The conversation around preprints rose to fever pitch during the development of the COVID-19 vaccine. It questions the foundational tradition of peer reviewed publishing within the scientific community by promoting the advantages of leveraging preprints to broaden access, speed, and innovation.

In this video directed by Bows & Arrows, Dr. Martin Chalfie and Dr. Akiko Iwasaki, two esteemed scientific researchers, explore the conversation around preprints through the lens of their own research, and through the story behind the development of the COVID-19 vaccines.

I was tasked with designing the non-interview portions of the video. I also created storyboards which were used for client approval and by the editor for guiding the story. Then, once the edit was sufficiently locked, I animated the relevant scenes and collaborated with the editor for handoff.
